Who is Jack and Jill of America, Inc.?

Greetings from the "Sweet" Sugar Land Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Our Chapter, located in Sugar Land, Texas, was founded in 2008. In a short period of time we have demonstrated our passion and commitment to service in our geographic area and beyond. With each opportunity, we have remained focused on our core values: providing our children with outstanding programs, community service and leadership opportunities; increasing communication and outreach to our local community; and being thoughtful, involved leaders within the South Central Region.

Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is an organization of mothers dedicated to raising the next generation of African American leaders while enhancing the lives of all children.  We work to accomplish our mission through diverse programs focused on leadership development, cultural exposure, community service, legislative advocacy and philanthropic giving.

The late Marion Stubbs Thomas founded Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, on January 24, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Twenty mothers came together to discuss creating an organization to provide social, cultural and educational opportunities for youth between the ages of 2 and 19.

Today, Jack and Jill boasts more than 245 chapters nationwide, representing more than 40,000 family members. Each chapter plans annual programming activities guided under a national theme. Through service projects, Jack and Jill of America creates a medium of contact for children to stimulate their growth and development. Through lobbying, educational programming, dissemination of education materials, and the organization of community and charitable events, Jack and Jill has promoted the public awareness and interests of children including child development, child growth, child quality of life, child care and the promotion of children’s rights.

To further that mission, the Sugar Land Chapter was chartered in 2008.  We are  located in the South Central Region which includes 31 Chapters in Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico consisting of more than 1500 members and their families with 11 chapters in the Houston Metropolitan Area.
